II. Funbridge, how it works
-
II.1 Tournament format
There are three tournament formats on Funbridge:
Competition tournaments, accessible by clicking the “Evaluate” button, consist of four deals and 100 are available
every 15 days. These tournaments establish the overall ranking and group players by level of play.
Daily tournaments, accessible by clicking the “Tournament of the day” button, are 20 deals tournaments. This is a
daily tournament open to all players regardless of their level of play.
Practice tournaments, are accessible by clicking the “Practice” button, are unlimited and played with one deal.
These tournaments are the same for all players, regardless of their level of play.
II.2 Percentage Computation on a Deal and a Tournament
How is computed a deal percentage?
On each deal you play a percentage value is given to you, ranging form 0% to 100%.
0% means that you are the only one getting the lowest possible score.
50% means that there was the same number of player that had a better score than you and the same number of
players having a worst score than you. 100% means that you where the only one achieving the best score
Percentage computation details:
We first set a maximum ranking point value that equals the number of players less one; this value is given to
the best player, then this value minus one for the second best player and so on up to the last player.
In case of a tie between some players, we add ranking points and divide them by the number of ties,
so each players get the same ranking point value. Once done, we convert the score to a percentage by multiplying
the ranking points by 100 and dividing the result by the maximum ranking point value.
Example for a nine-player tournament:
Results are 1 with 650, 4 with 620, 2 with 170, 1 with 140, and 1 with 110.
Player with 650 will get 8 points that will become (8*100)/8 = 100%
The 4 players tied to 620 will get (7+6+5+4)/4 = 5.5 points that will become (5.5*100)/8 = 68.75%
The next two players tied to 170 will get (3+2)/2 = 2.5 points that will become (2.5*100)/8 = 31.25%
The player with 140 will get 1 point that will become (1*100)/8 = 12.5% and the payer with 110 points will get
0 points (0*100)/100 = 0%
Tournement percentage computation:
All tournaments are played with four deals; the percentage average for each tournament will be used to
establish the ranking.
What happen if a player does not play some tournaments during the current month? There will be no penalties
for him, however he must play at least five tournament in the current month.
II.3 Ranking, bonus, and groups
There are 20 groups on Funbridge ranging from Elite, the highest, to four Clubs, the lowest:

The ranking is established at each period end.
A period last for 15 days, running from the 1st to 15th of the month, and from the 16th to the month end.
To be a rated, a player must have played at least 10 tournaments during the current period.
Any Premium player that did not play his 20 tournaments during the current period goes down one group.
Non-Premium players are always part of non-premium groups.
A new player on Funbridge will be part of the new players group. The player will be moved to the appropriate
group based on his ranking at the current period end time if he has played at least 5 tournaments.
At each period end time:
20% of players in the group above you will move up to another group.
20% of players in the group you are you will move down another group.
Of course, a player cannot move down from group 19 (4C) or move up from Elite group.
A non-Premium player, in the non-premium group, when registering a Premium membership will move to a group
according to his results as if he was playing in the New Player group.
Bonus
The bonus system rewards the players that have played the most competition tournaments.
We don't count tournaments where the percentage is the worst every 2 tournaments per group of 10 tournaments played. (example : the 4 worst among your 20 tournaments, not the 2 worst among the first 10 tournaments and the 2 worst among the following 10 tournaments)
II.4 Awards
Following each period, prizes are awarded the following way:
A randomly selected account that show a picture: 10 days of Premium membership.
Best player in each group: 10 days of Premium membership.
Closest player to 55% without going over (all groups): 5 days of Premium membership.
To be eligible to receive the award for the best player and closest player to 50% without going over at period end:
the player must have completed at least five tournaments. If the winner is an Ambassador (thus lifetime membership),
the award will not be transferable.
II.5 Explained deals
The explained deals are deals specially studied to show difficulties in betting or card play. The betting round
and card play are cut down and commented by Jérôme Rombaut (Europe Champion and France Team Member 2002-2005)

list is available by clicking the “Explained deals” button in the software.
