| In response, a jump in a new suit shows a very good suit with 16+HCP, after pass it shows a maximum hand (9-11) with 5 cards in the suit and 4 in the opening suit. |
After a 1 or 1 response, 3NT by the opener shows 18-19 balanced with 4 cards in the major response. |
| A big jump in a new suit is a splinter : showing shortness and a big fit in your suit. |
